What is recycled cotton yarn?

Recycled cotton yarn is fiber produced by mechanically shredding and re-spinning cotton waste — including cutting room scraps, old garments, and pre-consumer textile waste — into fresh, usable yarn. Unlike virgin cotton yarn, it skips the farming and ginning stage entirely, making it one of the most resource-efficient fibers in the textile industry. At RG Fibers Private Limited, we source premium cotton waste from verified suppliers across Panipat — India's recycling capital — and process it through a controlled mechanical recycling system that preserves fiber integrity, strength, and consistency.

  • Post-industrial & post-consumer - We process both cutting waste from garment factories and recovered fabric from end-of-life clothing, reducing landfill burden at both ends of the supply chain.
  • Open-end & ring spun options - Available in open-end (OE) and ring spun processes to match your application — from sturdy industrial gloves to soft home textiles and fashion fabrics.
  • Natural mélange tones - Our recycled yarn naturally produces beautiful heather and mélange shades, often requiring zero additional dyeing — saving water, energy, and cost.

How RG Fibers makes recycled cotton yarn

Our manufacturing process at our Panipat facility follows a strict quality-controlled flow — from raw waste collection to finished cone or hank delivery.

01 - Waste Sorting & Color Segregation - Cotton textile waste is sorted by fiber type, composition, and color. Color-sorted batches enable natural mélange shades and eliminate unnecessary dyeing in many applications.

02 - Mechanical Shredding (Garnetting) - Fabric is passed through high-speed garnetting machines that break woven or knitted structures back into individual fiber strands — a fully mechanical, chemical-free process.

03 - Blending & Fiber Opening - Recovered fibers are blended with fresh cotton or polyester (depending on the product specification) to achieve the desired count, strength, and uniformity.

04 - Carding & Drawing - Fibers are carded to align them and remove short fibers, then drawn into slivers of consistent weight and thickness — the foundation of a uniform yarn.

05 - Spinning (OE or Ring) - Slivers are spun on open-end or ring spinning frames to the specified yarn count. Both single and plied constructions are available.

06 - Quality Testing & Packaging - Every lot undergoes tensile strength, count accuracy, and evenness testing before packing on cones, hanks, or bobbins as per buyer specifications.

Environmental impact of recycled cotton yarn

Choosing recycled cotton over virgin cotton makes a measurable difference. Cotton farming is one of the most water-intensive agricultural activities in the world — producing 1 kg of conventional cotton consumes approximately 10,000–20,000 liters of water. Recycled cotton yarn bypasses the entire farming, irrigation, and ginning phase.

At RG Fibers, we are proud to contribute to the circular textile economy. Every kilogram of recycled cotton yarn we produce diverts waste from landfills, reduces CO₂ emissions, and conserves freshwater resources — making it the right choice for brands building a sustainable product line.

~70% - Water saving vs virgin cotton
~45% - Lower CO₂ footprint
0 - Pesticides in fiber process
Circular - Economy aligned product

Frequently asked questions

Is recycled cotton yarn as strong as virgin cotton yarn?

Recycled cotton fibers are shorter than virgin cotton due to the mechanical shredding process, which can result in slightly lower tensile strength at very fine counts. For coarser counts (Ne 2–10), the strength is excellent and fully suitable for industrial, home textile, and apparel end uses. Blending with a small percentage of polyester further enhances durability without compromising eco-credentials.

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

MOQ varies by count and specification. We accommodate both trial orders for new buyers and bulk supply contracts for established manufacturers. Contact our sales team directly to get an MOQ and pricing quote for your specific requirement.

Can RG Fibers supply a specific color or dyed recycled cotton yarn?

Yes. We offer natural mélange shades, raw white recycled yarn, and custom-dyed options. Natural mélange requires no additional dyeing and is the most eco-friendly choice. For custom colors, we work with reactive and vat dye processes.

Do you provide OCS or GRS certificates?

We provide full traceability documentation and supply chain records that support OCS (Organic Content Standard) and GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification audits for our buyers. We can guide your brand team through the documentation process.

Does RG Fibers export recycled cotton yarn?

Yes. We regularly supply recycled cotton yarn to buyers in all over india and nepal. We handle all export documentation including commercial invoice, packing list, GSP certificate, and coordinate with freight forwarders for timely delivery.

What packaging options are available?

We pack on standard cones (1 kg and 2 kg), hanks, and FIBC jumbo bags for bulk export orders. Custom labeling and private-label packaging is also available for brand buyers.
